Ruler and compass

There are plenty of examples of masonic symbolism hidden in plain sight around the world. Sometimes it's subtle, sometimes not. This example from my home-country Finland is one of those not-so-subtle ones. It's so blatantly obvious that anyone can see it.

This statue, called Ruler and compass, is standing on a yard of a high school in the city of Raahe:

Ruler and compass

Ruler? Yeah, sure, but isn't it actually a square?

This little trick with the name indicates that they try to hide the clearly masonic symbolism behind an exoteric level. It's just about the tools that the students need in their studies.

Right, and nothing to do with masonry? Nothing to do with square and compass?
